Growing Deeper with God and Hearing His Voice

The deeper we get with God, we often wonder why we aren’t hearing Him as loudly as before. One thing that keeps coming to mind is this: once we know a voice, we don’t need to hear it as loudly to recognize it. Like a mother and child, a mother knows her child’s voice the moment they start to speak, no matter how far away they are.

Just as God hears us all the time, as we grow to know Him, we become more sensitive to His voice. And if we’re more sensitive to His voice, why does it have to be loud? Following Him means following the still, small voice.

It’s in following that still, small voice that we start following His leading and growing deeper with Him. We become more in tune with everything He wants to show us, everything He wants to tell us, and everything there is to know about Him. As we follow that still, small voice and the leading He gives us, He reveals more about Himself. He has great things He wants to show us.

The deeper we get with Him, the smaller and stiller the voice may become, but the more in tune with it we are, the more we’re able to recognize it.

“And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper.” - 1 Kings‬ ‭19‬:‭12‬ ‭NLT‬‬
